![]() ![]() Geralt is looking for Ciri who ran off in the previous book and is now rumoured to be engaged to the Emperor of Nilfgaard. Yeah, there’s not a huge amount of plot progression going on in this book. When we meet up with him again in Baptism of Fire, he is sort of healed but not completely and he spends the entire novel travelling and talking with other characters. When we last saw Geralt of Rivia in Time of Contempt, he was gravely injured. ![]() Injured or not, Geralt has a rescue mission on his hands. It’s an impossible situation in which to find one girl – Ciri, the heiress to the throne of Cintra, has vanished – until a rumour places her in the Niflgaard court, preparing to marry the Emperor. While war rages across all of the lands, the future of magic is under threat and those sorcerers who survive are determined to protect it. ![]() The Witcher is supposed to be a guardian of the innocent, a protector of those in need, a defender against powerful and dangerous monsters that prey on men in dark times.īut now that dark times have fallen upon the world, Geralt is helpless until he has recovered from his injuries. Summary: The Wizards Guild has been shattered by a coup and, in the uproar, Geralt was seriously injured. My favourite book of the series so far and not a lot happens. ![]()
